Waldrich Coburg was taken over by the Chinese state-owned group Beijing No.1 Machine Tool in 2005, which brought the machine manufacturer strong growth. At Special machine constructionhe Schiess from Aschersleben, the takeover by the Chinese SYMG had an opposite effect. The company had to file for insolvency in 2019, but was able to resume operations through an investor solution. The new investor is one of the largest Chinese foundry companies: Shandong Guochuang Wind Power Equipment.
Two further "Top Ten" places (4th and 6th) and 11th place go to the machine manufacturer Starrag, based in Rorschacherberg, Switzerland. The company's portfolio includes Machine Tools for milling, turning, drilling and grinding of workpieces made of metal, composite materials and ceramics.
