The robots are coming - BIW shows 25 humanoids in Oerlikon

Next week, 25 humanoid robots will compete at the Business Innovation Week (BIW) in Zurich Oerlikon. This is the largest robot show in Europe to date. BIW will also see the launch of HERA, a new European robotics alliance: the "Human Empowering Robot Alliance".

Are robots taking over our daily lives? "Robolution is coming!" So says Jean Christophe Gostanian. The CEO and owner of Avatarion Technology AG is an advocate of humanoid robotics and is convinced that this type of robot will help make artificial intelligence and digitalization tangible.

Hollywood robotics has stimulated the expectations of the population. Hardly a week goes by without a new virtual assistant, a chatbot, a
Welcome service or dialogue and live translation aids come onto the market. Forms and characteristics of virtual assistants are quite different.

Humanoid robots

The implementation can be completely virtual or more and more in the form of a humanoid robot. Siri and Alexa are digital, DJ Mecabot - also in Zurich Oerlikon - gets people in the mood while dancing as a "humanized figure". "The Mecabots, Naos and Peppers make digitization and artificial intelligence tangible.

Robots in everyday life
Professions and jobs will be taken over by robots, whole industries will (have to) change in a very short time, when robots take over the reception or serve the food in the hospital or old people's home or become the right hand of the boss or the teacher in the classroom.

A lack of manpower and cost pressure will accelerate these processes. However, Gostanian also urges a responsible approach to humanoid robotics: "It is up to us humans to introduce these intelligent machines in a responsible manner and
to use."

Ewa Ming, founder and initiator of Business Innovation Week, makes a point of giving robots enough space: "There's no question that humanoid robots inspire respect, perhaps even fear. But they also help to make algorithms, chatbots, bits and bites more comprehensible and understandable for the average citizen in the rapid pace of digitalisation."

At BIW19, "Robolution" will therefore also occupy a significant space in the Live Experience Hall. The prerequisite for these digital, virtual services, Internet of Things and humanoid robots is a powerful and mobile network. BIW key partner Salt will also demonstrate new 5G applications together with Avatarion and Nokia.

HERA - an alliance of reason?

Strong vertical partnerships are therefore essential. With HERA, leading European robotics companies want to arm themselves against the powerful competition from China and the USA. "We must finally join forces here in Europe," says Christophe Gostanian, announcing close business cooperation at the European level.

The digital transformation is in full swing, robots will massively change our social environment, services and industry. At the Business Innovation Week, visitors will experience the live experience show "Robolution", four European robot premieres and new, exclusive robotic software.
