The most attractive employers in Switzerland
In the ranking of the most attractive employers in Switzerland, Swiss companies have managed to stay at the top, with ABB even overtaking Google to take first place among engineers. Companies in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, on the other hand, would have an increasingly difficult time on the labour market.
In the ranking of the most attractive employers, Swiss companies are top. Looking at the top 20, 50 percent of Swiss companies (in addition: National Bank, Migros, Federal Administration, FIFA, SBB) are among them. The previous top 10 Swiss companies such as UBS, Nestlé, Credit Suisse, Swiss, Rolex are no longer rated as highly as last year. Last year's "direct entrant" Zurich Airport, for example, has lost -16 places and now finds itself at #32.
As a survey by universumglobal.com shows, more and more banks and FMCG companies are losing their shine in the Swiss job market.
In the business ranking, several banks have lost a lot of ground: Deutsche Bank (-25 places), Pictet & Cie (-16 places) and HSBC Private Bank (-11 places). UBS and CS, however, are holding up well here.
The Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry has lost many places among business students. Although Nestlé managed to hold on to the top spot, several companies - Lindt & Sprüngli (-11), P&G (-14), Heineken (-8) and Emmi (-10) - dropped in rank.

Nevertheless, tables (rankings) must be differentiated in detail. Watch manufacturers, for example - according to the present study - became less attractive to engineering students, but more attractive to computer science students:
Several Swiss watch manufacturers are in the top 100, some of them in high ranks, such as Rolex #8 among business students and #16 among computer science students. However, they have lost popularity among engineering students since last year: Rolex -8, Swatch -23, IWC -37.
However, some of these watch brands have gained on IT-lern: Rolex +26, IWC +27. (Swatch has lost ranks with IT-24.)
Swiss companies catching up in IT
The top has held steady since last year and remains unchanged: Google, Microsoft, IBM, Swisscom. CERN and UBS have swapped places (#4 #5).
This is followed by many Swiss companies that have caught up since last year: SBB (+2), Credit Suisse (+1), Swiss (+21), Zühlke Engineering (+21), The Federal Administration (+22), Migros (+13), Rolex (+26) and Swiss Post (+7).
Big winner is ABB
Swiss successes can also be seen among engineers: Google, for example, has lost its top spot and been overtaken by ABB.
Sarah Dovlo, Head of HR Marketing Europe & Switzerland at ABB, comments: "The fact that ABB is a key player in the digital revolution is reflected in our new ABB Ability platform as well as in our new brand identity, which was very present in Switzerland, especially due to the 125th anniversary. From internships and trainee programs to working on the innovative technologies that make a Gotthard Base Tunnel possible: Together with customers and partners, our employees can literally help write the future."
