With the employees joining Swisscom from USP a security competence cluster with a good 200 specialists will be created, who will look after the security of applications, data and networks of corporate customers around the clock, writes the telecoms provider in a media release.

Urs Lehner, Head of Swisscom Enterprise Customers and Member of the Group Executive Board on the acquisition: USP, which has been in business for 25 years, has an extremely exciting service, customer and competence portfolio. According to Lehner, this will give his company access to security specialists and the corresponding know-how in this fast-growing market.

Michael Liebi, CEO at USP, adds: "The two companies would ideally complement each other with their customer portfolios.

USP continues to exist

The acquisition would further strengthen Managed Security Services (MSS). The new security software product business (Web Access Management and Network Access Control) expands Swisscom's security offering.

United Security Providers, which was founded in 1994, will continue to exist as a separate company and brand under the Swisscom umbrella. The current management team led by company founder and CEO Michael Liebi will continue to provide services and thus ensure continuity. Swisscom plans to further expand and sustainably strengthen the cyber security area, it concludes.
