After three successful years as CEO of Swisscom Health AG, Thomas Bachofner is looking for a career change. Swisscom regrets this decision, as Bachofner, together with his management team, has done important groundwork for further growth in the healthcare market and advanced several key customer projects for Swisscom Health.

Thomas Bachofner has strategically aligned Swisscom Health for sustainable commercial success. With dedicated commitment, he has established the agile transformation of the company and professional software development. This created the basis for, among other things, the timely completion of the platform for the electronic patient dossier in currently eleven cantons and for more than half of the Swiss population. The cloud practice software curaMED was decisively further developed and the number of its users increased. In Thomas Bachofner, Swisscom Health is losing a proven strategist and manager.

In order to ensure continuity and stability in the management and strategy of Swisscom Health, an orderly and medium-term succession plan was initiated. Markus Sager, a proven entrepreneur, has been recruited as the new CEO of Swisscom Health AG. He brings with him extensive expertise in development and operations in the ICT environment. Most recently, Sager spent nine years at the very successful helm of Comfone AG, an internationally oriented SME in the roaming business.

Thomas Bachofner will continue to bear full responsibility for Swisscom Health until the end of September 2019. Markus Sager will carefully familiarise himself over the coming months and will take over as CEO on 1 October.
