Swiss technologies at the WEF to combat climate change

Switzerland presented its technologies for combating global warming at the World Economic Forum WEF. At the Tech4Good event, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs showed how Swiss innovations can save millions of tonnes of CO2 worldwide.

Innovative Swiss technologies can help the global economy avoid the emission of millions of tonnes of CO2. This was shown by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at the Tech4Good event of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. According to a Media release Switzerland supports their global deployment in order to increase the impact of Swiss technologies in the fight against climate change.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) LC3 cement, which produces 40 percent less CO2. It was developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in cooperation with the Cuban Universidad Central de las Villas and the Indian Institutes of Technology developed in New Delhi and Madras. The high-tech cement is currently being tested internationally.

In India, the SDC also implemented a project for energy-efficient house construction. Swiss experts supported the government in the introduction of the first corresponding building standard.

"Tech4Good means that we apply new technologies around the world in a way that simultaneously generates added value for the economy, the environment and, above all, for people," said Federal Councillor and FDFA head Ignazio Cassis at the opening of the event at the House of Switzerland. "It is part of our DNA as citizens of Switzerland and the world that we work together for the common good."
