Zimmer Biomet presents first European Innovation Award

The leading medical technology company Zimmer Biomet, with European headquarters in Winterthur, has initiated the 1st European Connected Health Innovation Award this year. According to the company, more than 30 entries from 14 European countries had been submitted. The first award winner was chosen at the beginning of November. The winner was the Dutch project WeHelpen, which came out on top among five finalists.

The winner of the competition was finally named Patient Community WeHelpen. WeHelpen is an online platform where patients and their caring relatives can inform and prepare themselves to establish an informal support network of families, friends and people from the neighbourhood. The online community also enables patients to actively participate in social life again themselves.

Zimmer Biomet EMEA President Katarzyna Mazur-Hofsaess praised the project as groundbreaking when it comes to solving future challenges in healthcare. "It is a great privilege for us to support WeHelpen now in taking their project forward. The project initiators received a cheque for 25'000 Euro from Zimmer Biomet.
