Review of the eighth InfoGuard Innovation Day

The eighth InfoGuard Innovation Day has successfully established itself in Swiss cyber security circles. Once again, 250 participants attended this year's event. More than 20 InfoGuard partners presented their latest innovations to make cyber security and cyber defence even more effective and efficient in the future.

As every year, InfoGuard's cyber security experts presented the challenges that companies have to face. This year, the presentations by the InfoGuard cyber security and defence experts were among the most popular. The InfoGuard Red Team demonstrated that it makes sense for companies to expose themselves to a cyber attack simulation in order to identify possible vulnerabilities at an early stage. It is not uncommon for the weakest link in the security chain to be the human being, and this was very clearly demonstrated by a simulated attack on a fictitious company. In addition to a detailed malware analysis of Emotet and attacks on industrial control systems, the experts from the InfoGuard Cyber Defence Center also presented the elementary key factors in responding to a security incident.
Michael Kurth, Senior Cyber Security Analyst at InfoGuard, then explained how important it is to react quickly to cyberattacks in the case of APT attacks, using current examples of Swiss companies. Ransomware attacks in particular have become increasingly professional and highly targeted in recent years. However, the milestones and stumbling blocks on the way to cloud security were just as much a topic for the security experts as InfoGuard's new research platform VUREX (Vulnerabilities, Research & Exploits).
Of course, the presentations by the Network & Security partners were also very well received. The broad spectrum of topics ranged from Cloud & Container Security, AI & Security Operations and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) to Threat Intelligence and Supply Chain Risk Management to Compliance, DDoS and Zero Trust.
Innovation Day - also a complete success in 2020
The response of the participants was - as in previous years - more than pleasing. Thomas Meier, CEO of InfoGuard, also draws a positive conclusion: "Every year we are overwhelmed by the success of the Innovation Day, which has now developed into a renowned event in the industry. The biggest success factor is certainly the combination of our own presentations and those of our partners, as well as the opportunity for extensive networking. The positive feedback and high quality motivate us to hold Innovation Day again next year."
