Marcel Dobler is the new president of ICTswitzerland
At this year's ICTswitzerland delegates' meeting, National Councillor Marcel Dobler was unanimously elected as the new president. Dobler succeeds Ruedi Noser, a member of the Council of States, who had presided over the umbrella organization since 2009. The new Vice President is National Councillor Franz Grüter.
At the ICTswitzerland delegates' meeting, Marcel Dobler (born 1980) was elected as the new president. Dobler is a founding member of the successful Swiss ICT company Digitec and was its CEO for 13 years. For his professional successes in the ICT industry, Dobler has won various awards, such as the Swiss Economic Award and the honorary Best of Swiss Web Award. In autumn 2015, he was elected to the National Council for the FDP.
As president, Marcel Dobler wants to set the following three priorities in the coming years: Digital education and training should be strengthened at all levels; suitable framework conditions should be created so that Switzerland's innovative strength is strengthened; and laws and administrative processes are needed that promote digitisation instead of preventing it.

In his short presentation, board member Thomas Meyer pointed out the importance of the digital.swiss platform, which visualises the progress of digitisation in Switzerland. In May 2017, the platform will go online with new data. Meyer presented the main findings of the population survey conducted in February 2017 by the gfs.bern research institute, which will be incorporated into various areas of the platform (digital.swiss/en/publications). The ambivalence of the Swiss population is particularly noteworthy: the Swiss see modern technologies and digitalisation as an opportunity, but at the same time would like to see more protectionism.
Newly elected board
The Assembly of Delegates re-elected the entire Board for the next two years. Franz Grüter was appointed as the new Vice President from the ranks of the Board. As a successful ICT entrepreneur (VRP green.ch) and National Councillor (SVP), he has close entrepreneurial and political ties with the ICT industry. He succeeds Dr Thomas Flatt, President of SwissICT.
With 27 member companies and 21 member associations, ICTswitzerland has become a strong voice of the ICT industry.
