Lean Transformation at Limtronik
In the EMS industry, manufacturing high-quality products while maintaining low margins and high cost pressure is a challenge. Seamless digitalized processes (keyword value stream optimization) are also essential. Limtronik GmbH has further developed Lean Production with regard to such requirements.
If the goal can only be "operations excellence", accompanied by further increases in productivity and quality, one should orient oneself towards modern lean production. This is characterized by the optimal interaction between production and logistics with lean processes.
Among other things, the specified goals can be achieved through efficient process chaining, which results in reduced throughput times and circulating stocks. In addition, the cyclical material supply leads to a minimization of the logistical effort and a compact lean line design leads to a reduction of the space requirement.
The EMS service provider Limtronik is successively implementing these and other measures as part of its "Limtronik 2020" concept. The electronics service provider has around 175 employees at a production site in Limburg a. d. Lahn and a branch in the USA. The further development of the previous lean measures is being initiated in close cooperation with the consulting firm Staufen AG. In the past, the Limburg EMS service provider has already implemented initial lean methods in the area of assembly.
