Messer Schweiz AG is strongly anchored in the Swiss MEM industry. As Switzerland's largest industrial hydrogen producer, Messer is in pole position for the upcoming hydrogen revolution in vehicles. Electric motors that draw their power from fuel cells have a greater range than battery-powered vehicles.
Messer is already in a position to supply 40-50 hydrogen filling stations. In the healthcare industry, Messer is significantly expanding its market leadership for medical gases. Public and private hospitals are investing in new buildings and in-house technical facilities. As the leading certified plant manufacturer (ISO13485) in Switzerland, Messer is experiencing a real boom in new buildings and the modernisation of outdated piping systems.
The turnover of industrial gases specialist Messer has grown by 50 percent over the last ten years (2005-2015). The former Lenzburg "Suurstoffi" is now one of the top gas suppliers in Switzerland and is continuing to expand the Lenzburg production site with new filling facilities and a new administration building. The company is responding to changing market conditions with the aim of better developing promising market segments. With innovations, such as in the recycling of CO2, Messer is well equipped for the future.
With new product launches, an offensive in the pharmaceutical industry is on the cards. Here, Messer has new gases, areas of application and technologies that are conducive to sustainable growth.
Without gases, Switzerland stands still
There is hardly a product that can not be associated with gas. Practically known are propane for the garden barbecue, carbon dioxide in mineral water, gases for welding and helium in balloons. As a flexible and at the same time highly specialised partner, Messer Schweiz AG is a supplier to research institutions such as the Paul Scherrer Institute and EMPA.
With its own air separation plant on the Lonza site in Visp, Messer Schweiz AG is making an explicit commitment to Switzerland as a production location.
