ISO announces new Secretary General
The International Organization for Standardization ISO is pleased to announce the appointment of Sergio Mujica as its new Secretary General from July 2017.
Sergio Mujica is the name of the new ISO Secretary General. For the past seven years, Mujica has served as Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO). Prior to that, he worked for 15 years for Chilean government agencies such as the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy, as well as Director General of the Chilean National Customs Agency. A Chilean citizen, he graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a law degree and from the American University in Washington, D.C., with a master's degree in international law.
"On behalf of the ISO family, I congratulate Sergio Mujica on his appointment as ISO Secretary General and look forward to working with him in the future," said ISO President Dr Zhang Xiaogang. Mujica takes over from Kevin McKinley, ISO Secretary General since August 2015, who previously served as Deputy Secretary General for 12 years.
"ISO is now in a very strong position to deliver on its 2016-2020 strategy, and I wish Sergio Mujica every success in helping the organization achieve its strategic goal - the goal of ISO standards becoming standard everywhere," McKinley said.
