The number of pharmaceutical employees is currently 41,800. These are the results of an impact analysis by BAKBASEL in collaboration with Polynomics. With 41,800 employees, it represents around 0.8 percent of total employment in Switzerland. However, due to the interconnections with companies in other sectors, a further 139,000 jobs would depend on the pharmaceutical industry. In terms of hourly productivity, the pharmaceutical industry is the national leader. In 2014, the nominal gross value added amounted to around 332 Swiss francs per hour worked (in FTE). This corresponds to four times the overall economic average and is around twice as high as the hourly productivity of the financial sector. (Source: Interpharma)
