HACCP certification for food safety

Antalis AG was the first Swiss company in the industry to achieve HACCP certification for professional food handling. This means that the Aargau-based wholesaler of paper and packaging materials, products for visual communication and logistics services offers its customers clear added value and additional security.

Antalis, wholesaler for paper and packaging materials, relies on certifications.

The HACCP audit for the correct handling of food took place at Antalis back in January. The focus of the audit is the risk analysis of critical control points (HACCP) to avoid hazards in connection with food that can lead to illness of consumers.

Additional added value

As part of the HACCP audit, the areas of storage, transport, packaging, packing and redistribution were particularly scrutinised. Antalis offers these services for packaged, non-refrigerated and shelf-stable foods. Likewise, the company offers primary packaging that comes into direct contact with food.

Optimal conditions

HACCP certification originated in the USA and was developed for the production of food used in space. Today, HACCP is considered the internationally recognized control system for quality assurance in all production processes of the food chain - from production to distribution to storage.

The basis for all the tests is the recognised "Good Manufacturing & Hygiene Practice" (GHP). Antalis was already the first company in the industry in Switzerland to introduce ISO 9001 certification. The wholesaler thus had very good prerequisites and many years of experience for the introduction of HACCP. The HACCP audit must be carried out annually in order to maintain the certification.
