Fraud detection, disease prevention, etc...: SAS Visual Investigator brings transparency
SAS, one of the world's largest software vendors, is launching SAS Visual Investigator for SAS Viya, a new cloud-optimized tool for investigative data analysis. It enables analysts to get a quick overview of networks, patterns, events, trends and variances across entire datasets.
SAS Visual Investigator is part of a comprehensive range of solutions that the software manufacturer is building on the basis of the new SAS Viya analytics platform. The solution combines the advantages of advanced analytics with graphical and interactive functionalities. Analysts can quickly and intuitively get to the bottom of the causes of events and alerts - and initiate well-founded measures on the basis of in-depth analyses.
The sophisticated visualization and extensive search functions make explorative work efficient. A particular strength of the solution is the ability to improve the quality of the hits. As a result, this means fewer suspicious cases that later turn out to be groundless (so-called false positives).
Typical applications include the detection and investigation of all kinds of complex and potentially dangerous events, such as industrial espionage, drug smuggling, organized fraud, credit defaults or even the outbreak of epidemics.
Features:
- Turn data directly into action: A single application combines alert triage, search and discovery, network analytics, and findings documentation.
- Discover hidden networks faster: SAS Visual Investigator automatically identifies networks and visualizes them interactively.
- Quickly make adjustments: SAS Visual Investigator can answer changing requirements and a wide variety of questions without requiring further modification by a developer. Thanks to low operating costs, the solution is predestined for cross-departmental use with a uniform user interface.
- Make existing data usable: SAS Visual Investigator is based on SAS Viya and therefore supports a format, size and location-independent search of data.
SAS Visual Investigator in practice
DirectPay, a financial services provider based in the Netherlands, uses SAS Visual Investigator to make investigations into fraudulent activity more efficient and to improve sharing within the investigation team. DirectPay purchases portfolios of outstanding invoices and credits from companies in the telco industry, utilities and web shops.
A portfolio can contain millions of invoices and credits. Processors need a comprehensive overview of all records belonging to a case or debtor in order to identify relationships and irregularities and make confident decisions when fraud is suspected.
The headquarters of the US parent company is in Cary, North Carolina. SAS Switzerland has offices in Zurich and Geneva. Further information under www.sas.com/ch
