The Pfizer Research Prize Foundation has been continuously promoting medical research in Switzerland since 1992 and, with today's award winners, has already honoured a total of 283 scientists. - How drug addiction could be treated with electric shocks in the future, how the flu virus could be tricked or how nostrils could grow in the laboratory - these were the topics of 3 of the 13 promising scientific papers that received awards at the anniversary event.
The Pfizer Research Prize is awarded to young scientists who have made pioneering contributions to basic or clinical research at Swiss research institutes or hospitals. With the 25th award ceremony, the Pfizer Research Prize Foundation honours a further 26 scientists out of a total of 283, and with prize money now totalling over 5.5 million Swiss francs, promotes medical research in Switzerland.
