Energy Day 2019 is just around the corner

The Energy Day organised by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) provides many concrete answers on how climate protection could be implemented in Switzerland: Four energy regions explain how they intend to achieve the goals of the Energy Strategy 2050 through inter-municipal cooperation. Buildings will also receive awards for their standards on Energy Day.

Energy Day 2019 is all about how regions, municipalities and building owners can better engage on climate protection issues. The SFOE will also be honouring several cities and schools that are currently making exemplary efforts to protect the climate. In addition, a total of nine 2000-watt sites will receive their official certificates. The Energy Day will take place on Friday, 11 October, at the PalaCinema in Locarno.

  • Energy Regions are driving climate protection forward with their inter-municipal cooperation. Representatives from Goms, Meilen, Surselva and Agno-Bioggio-Manno will show you how they have set up creative climate protection programmes together with neighbouring municipalities - whether in spatial planning, municipal buildings, energy supply, mobility or communication.
  • Also 2000-watt areas are an important piece of the puzzle in the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050. They offer the possibility of planning entire building ensembles together. A 2000-watt site stands for energy efficiency, renewable energies, climate friendliness and a high quality of life. It brings people together, combines aspects of everyday life in an attractive environment and reflects the values of a responsible society. On Energy Day, one of the nine certified 2000-watt sites will receive new certification and four will be recertified.
  • For the first time, four 2000-watt sites will also receive their certificates in the new "in transformation" designation. This is an important step towards ensuring that not only new sites, but also as many existing sites and districts as possible pursue the ambitious goals of the 2000-watt society. After all, the Energy Strategy 2050 cannot be achieved with efficient new buildings alone. The University of Lausanne is even the first 2000-watt site "in transformation" in French-speaking Switzerland. And since environmentally friendly mobility is a very important criterion for a 2000-watt site, part of the Lausanne delegation will cycle the entire way back from Ticino to Vaud.
  • Energy City and Energy SchoolsThe supporting association Energiestadt supports Swiss cities and municipalities that are considered key partners for the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050. A large number of forward-looking projects are implemented in energy cities on a daily basis, which means that they play an important role as role models. On Energy Day, the SFOE honours the new or confirmed Energy Cities, Energy Cities GOLD and Energy Schools of the last 12 months for their commitment.
