Electrosuisse: "Equipment Testing and Certification" now belongs to Eurofins
Electrosuisse's "Equipment Testing and Certification" business unit is being taken over by the internationally active Eurofins Group. With this move, Electrosuisse wants to respond to the changing economic conditions, while at the same time enabling Swiss equipment manufacturers to access international markets in the future.
The Electrosuisse test laboratories, which are located at various sites in Switzerland with around 70 workplaces, will be retained. This was contractually agreed on 9 May 2017. Electrosuisse is selling the "Equipment Testing and Certification" business unit to the internationally active Eurofins Scientific Group.
The changing economic and political framework conditions as well as the increasing complexity and globalization in this market environment have led to this strategic step. The Eurofins Group offers the necessary international networking, access to know-how and a broad customer base.
Audit business is being audited
Markus Burger, Managing Director Electrosuisse: "The testing business is subject to an increasingly complex market environment. With the Eurofins Group, we have a strong partner and can thus offer Swiss equipment manufacturers a future-oriented solution for international market access".
Eurofins expands its activities in the testing business with the acquisition of the business unit Equipment Testing and Certification. Electrosuisse will hold a minority stake in the Swiss branch of Eurofins "Eurofins Electrosuisse Product Testing AG" in the medium term.
Concentration on Switzerland
In future, Electrosuisse will focus its activities even more strongly on the Swiss market. It is expanding its remaining competencies in the business areas of inspection, consulting, standardization and further training, as well as metering and conversion, and strengthening the association's activities as a leading trade association for electrical, energy and information technology. The focus remains on promoting the safe, economical and environmentally compatible generation and use of electricity.
