Big Data: Dürr, Fraunhofer and iTAC cooperate
Dürr AG, its wholly owned subsidiary iTAC Software AG and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. (Fraunhofer Society for the Advancement of Applied Research) are cooperating for the purpose of developing Big Data Analytics processes.
Dürr AG, a leading machinery and plant manufacturer, and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have already been working together on numerous projects for several years. They are also jointly involved in the "Heinz and Heide Dürr Foundation" at the "Institute for Energy Efficiency in Production EEP".
At HANNOVER MESSE, the three companies signed a "Letter of Intent" (LoI). One of the objectives is the joint development and marketing of a "Machine Learning-as-a-Service (MLaaS)" for the iTAC.MES.Suite, iTAC's Manufacturing Execution System.
Machine Learning-as-a-Service (MLaaS)
Machine Learning-as-a-Service (MLaaS)" refers to scalable artificial intelligence (AI) features as a cloud offering. Due to its expertise in the field of "Big Data Analytics", the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS in St. Augustin was involved and, together with the MES expert iTAC, will pursue the goal of developing various industry-specific "Machine Learning based on Big Data Analytics processes".
Predicitive Maintenance & Co.
Possible areas of application for this planned Big Data Analytics module for the iTAC.MES.Suite are in the areas of Predictive Maintenance, Increased Efficiency and Reduced Faulty Yield.
It is currently planned that iTAC will launch these solutions as a holistic offering with and for Dürr in 2018.
