New data center standard EN 50600
Now the criteria catalog Trusted Site Infrastructure (abbreviated TSI) version 4.0 is available and covers all points of the new European data center standard EN 50600. TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH (TÜViT) comments on the further development of the de facto standard for the technical testing of data centers and security-critical infrastructures.
"TÜViT participated in the development of EN 50600 with two employees in the German commission," says Joachim Faulhaber, head of the division.
TSI Version 4.0 expands and updates the criteria catalog offered by TÜViT since 2002. Based on the revised version, companies can, in particular, check and have certified whether the construction or operation of a data center complies with the new data center standard EN 50600.
Although the predecessor version TSI 3.2 already largely complied with the requirements of the standard, TÜViT once again checked all assessment areas for completeness and consistency in order to ensure correct mapping of EN 50600.
First comprehensive standard for data centres
This European standard goes beyond the existing standards and regulations for individual data center trades: EN 50600 is the first series of standards on the market that describes the requirements for a data center holistically in the form of a guideline.
TSI 4.0 now provides this standard with a compact test specification with which the requirements of the standard can be compared.
Compared to the previous version 3.2, TSI 4.0 has mainly been extended in the area of cabling (EN 50600 2-4) and in the area of data centre operation (EN 50600 3-1). In addition, TÜViT took the change of version as an opportunity to specify formulations and to formulate the differences between the various assessment levels more clearly.
"TÜViT participated in the development of EN 50600 with two employees in the German commission," says Joachim Faulhaber, Deputy Head of IT Infrastructure at TÜViT. "This made it possible to align the new version 4.0 of the TSI criteria catalogue at an early stage and in line with the European standards."
